Santiago dining table

The designer, the Austrian Frank Rettenbacher who lives and works in Amsterdam, reveals the secrets of an engineering project featuring a minimal and appealing design: “the idea of Santiago table is bringing the same lightness of the metal tops I designed for Zanotta in 2014 (small table Emil and console table Mina) into a product with bigger sizes. The challenge consisted above all in creating a solid wood table featuring the same linear and distinguishing silhouette of the light metal structures. This type of construction – inspired by the style of architect Santiago Calatrava, whom the table name comes from – provides the best steadiness although the wooden legs are as thin as possible”.
